Make Your Own Deodorant
The topic of antiperspirants is not a new one, but do you know why?
With parabens being found in breast tumors, which is an ingredient in many deodorants, we need to be concerned. Then there is the topic of aluminum found in antiperspirants.
Oestrogen is a well established influence in breast cancer and its action, dependent on intracellular receptors which function as ligand-activated zinc finger transcription factors, suggests one possible point of interference from aluminium.
I get it, we don't want to stink, but blocking our sweat glands may lead to problems down the road. One of our skin's main functions is to detoxify through sweat. We are meant to sweat.
"But then what do I use?"
My mom has been making deodorant for months now, and I have been loving it! It's only recently that I started making it myself because I can buy essential oils from myself.
Here is my recipe for making your own deodorant!
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup of arrowroot powder (found in most grocery stores)
- 1/4 cup of baking soda
- 4 tablespoons of organic coconut oil, melted (I get a huge vat of it at Costco)
- 12 drops of Peppermint 100% pure essential oil
- 12 drops of Lavender 100 % pure essential oil
Stir to combine and use an old neck cream or night cream jar. Leftovers (and there will be plenty) can be put in a BPA-free plastic container or glass jar.
It works and it will last for months.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
