From Pinterest to Reality: Our Kitchen Reno

Right before we sold our last house, we painted the kitchen cabinets and it made the space so much better. After that we vowed we would not wait until we were selling to enjoy the next house.

People have asked how I was able to visualize what we have now from a picture off Pinterest. I guess I-got-it-from-my-momma. If you have a connecting dining room and kitchen, I hope this helps you visualize possibility for your home!

We call this forced marriage counseling. Getting ready for school in the mornings was a nightmare. Entertaining was cramped. If you had the fridge, stove, and dishwasher open at the same time…forget about it! The workflow of this kitchen was virtually zilch. And the lighting…awful!

Shout out to our contractors, Mark and Traci Johnson , who took our vision and executed it! Notice the two-toned floors. We had the tile removed and had wood floors put down instead.

My parents had leftover tile from their kitchen renovation, so we got creative with the tile layout. We had our reverse osmosis faucet installed here too. If you haven’t questioned the quality of water you drink every day, I’d recommend it!

I posted an after picture on a Facebook group and a woman said that is not the same kitchen! Ha. Yep. Yep, it is. I live here.

Renovation Tip: Planning a kitchen renovation and losing your stove for a couple months? Get yourself an Instant Pot. It’s a life-saver.

I look forward to continue making tons of delicious food and entertaining lots of friends and family in this kitchen!
